AISHWARYA RAI

born in Mangalore, Karnataka India on 1^st November 1973.

She was younger of the two siblings, her brother being 3 yrs elder from her named ADITIYA RAI, when she was about 4 years old. Her family moved to Mumbai forever. Her father worked as a merchant navy officer. Her friends also called her as Ash, Aishu, and Gullu.

Aishwarya did her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir, Santacruz. She was a science student and completed her graduation from DG Ruparel College, Mumbai. Her favorite subject was Zoology.

Aishwarya wanted to complete her degree in medicine, but she failed to complete her Medical Education. Instead of Medical she had chosen Architecture and passed out the diploma from Raheja College.

Aishwarya had started accepting modeling assignments. She then decided to take a break from architecture and concentrate on Modeling. she got her first add campaign from PEPSI and was success in her first add and soon got many add from Lux, Pamolive and many more. She was crowned Miss Femina World and went on to win the Miss World title at Sun City in 1994.

Aishwarya Rai first film was Iruvar in Tamil in HIndi Aur Pyar Ho Gaya and Jeans gave her opportunity to enter in Bollywood. After The success of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Taal she proved herself.

She is also known as the lady with beauty and brain in the Bollywood. In the year 2000 she was awarded Best Actress by Filmfare and Zee Cine for her work in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Blockbuster film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, she was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her special appearance in Aditya Chopra's film MOHABBATEIN.

In the year 2001 she was nominated for Best Actress by Filmfare Award for Satish Kaushik film "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai".

Year 2002 Acted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's  Devdas with Shah Rukh Khan.

Aishwarya became the first Indian actress to be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the year 2004 she had taken her first leading role in her first English film of Gurinder Chadha’s “Bride & Prejudice”. She also became the first Indian female Actress to be immortalized in wax at the world famous Madame Tussaud’s wax museum in London.

She also receives an award in 2005 from “ZEE CINE” as “CRITICS Actress” of the year. In the year 2006 she was seen in Mistress of Spices directed by Paul Berges “ Jag Mundhra’s Provoked “and upcoming films like J. P. Dutta’s “ Umrao Jaan”, Sanjay Gadhvi’s “ Dhoom 2”, Ashutosh Gowariker’s “Jodha Akbar”, Mani Ratnam's “Guru”.

Rai is married to actor Abhishek Bachchan.

In 2009 she made an appearance on Martha Stewart's show Martha. The same year she appeared on The Tyra Banks Show hosted by Tyra Banks.

Aishwarya Rai in now Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Her Recent Movie Raavan has been released and awaiting for the Box Office response.
