After completing his early education he went to Lahore to do his graduation at the famous Government College. During those days Government College of Lahore was the well-known educational institution in North India and was a zone of attraction to all the new talents across the country. His elder brother Chetan was already a prominent member of left leaning Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA). After completion of his graduation in English literature from Lahore he came to Bombay to join Chetan. and Dev Anand became great pals and promised each other other that if he got

chance to produce then Guru Dutt would direct the picture.” Not more

by Chetan and his film a won a prize at the Cannes film
Festival. After Dev Anand shift to Bombay he met one of the leading singer
and heroine of Bombay, Suraiya. Dev Anand and Suraiya's first film together

But the film didn't do too well at the Box –office.
