SHETTY Shilpa Shetty was born on 8th June 1975 is an Indian film Actress who had appeared in many Bollywood films. Her sister is also an actress named ‘Shamita Shetty’. Shilpa was born in coastal Karnataka , India in a Bunt family and has a native speaking language of Tulu. Shilpa’s father name is Surendra Shetty and her mother name is Sunanda Shetty. Shilpa’s Parents were having an occupation of modelling in their time. Her Father had been modelled fro ‘Year Glasses’ and her Mother had been modeled for ‘Forhans’, ‘Bournvita’. So after completing her ten standard (grade) Shilpa had taken of her some photos and send them to many add agencies and from there the work has also started coming for her. Shilpa has completed her schooling from ‘St Anthony Girls' High School’ in ‘Chembur’and then completed her graduation from “Podar College”. Shilpa was also interested in sports such as ‘Baseball’ , ‘Karate’as she was the captain of her college in the sports team of ‘Baseball’. Shilpa is also achieved a black belt in ‘Karate’. At that age Shilpa was just 15 and wanted to become a ramp model but unfortunately her height was only 5'7" and not as skinny and tall as other models. Seeing that she was rejected her ‘Heart was broken’. Shilpa had no background in ‘Acting’ but her luck worked for her and at the age of 17 she was offered a film in a leading role in her first film opposite ‘Rahul Roy’ in the film named as “Gaata Rahe Mera Dil”but under some circumstances the film was not completed and sadly was stalled. In the year 1993, Shilpa made her debut in the murder mystery, of the film ‘‘BAAZIGAR” with the Bollywood King ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ and Ravishing ‘Kajol’. The film was in a great success. This film earned her ‘Filmfare Nomination’ for “Best New Comer” In the year 1994, She also achieved a great success in the film “MAIN KHILADI TU ANARI” opposite her ex –boyfriend ‘Akshay Kumar’ who completely gave Shilpa a new image in Bollywood. However, succeeding films in which she made many had done less well at the box office. Shilpa was again ‘Heart – broken’ when her one after the another and at one point films flopped. Due to that she thought of quitting from Hindi Cinema as she was already working in a couple films of Telugu and Tamil. Her some more films were flopped name as ‘PARDESI BABU’, ‘JAANWAR’ and ‘LAL BAADSHAH’, but by having a great luck her flopped films have also earned her award for ‘Best supporting Actress’ from’ Zee Gold Bollywood’. But through the circumstances of having much flopp films the industry had thought to written off Shilpa. But her come back with the special appearance in the song 'Main Aayi Hoon U.P. Bihar Lootne' gave classic reviews. Her Film “SCHOOL” was a hit and her song spread like a ‘Wild Fire’. In the year 2000, Shilpa starred opposite her ex – boyfriend ‘Akshay Kumar’ and her cousin ‘Sunil Shetty’ in the film “Dhadkan” which was director by ‘Dharmesh Darshan’. The film had redefined Shilpa Shetty and all of them finally noticed her for her acting abilities. Shilpa had also earned an IIFA (International Indian Film Award) in which she was nominated in the category of ‘Best Actress’. The film itself became an average at the ‘box – office’. After that her some of the films were hit such as ‘KUSHI’ which was in ‘Tamil’, PREETHSOD THAPPA” which was in ‘Kannada’, “KARZ” which was in ‘Hindi’. In the year 2002, Shilpa had completed five movies, which was also ready for release named as “BADHAAI HO BADHAAI”, “CHOOR MACHAAYE SHOR”, “HATYAAR”, “KARZ” and “Rishtey”. It was again sadly to say that her all film were flopped and worked worst for her as “KARZ” and “RISHTEY” were also release on the same day. But everything had not gone wrong in the year 2002. In “HATYAAR” Shilpa bagged more praise for role than her co – star ‘Sanjay Dutt’ and in the film “RISHTEY” she was reportedly as the only good thing about the film. Shilpa received two nominations for ‘Best Comedian’ in which the first one was ‘Screen Awards and the other was from ‘Sansui Viewers Choice Movie Award’. ‘Filmfare’ nominated her in the category of ‘Best Actress’. In the year 2003 she received mixed reviews for her role in the film “DARNA MANA HAI” in Hindi and her film with ‘Ravichandran Ondagona Baa in Kannada which was also a hit. In the year 2004 she won critical acclaim with her performance as an AIDS vicitim in the film “PHIR MILENGE” which was directed by ‘Reyathy’. Shilpa had also done a movie with her close friend ‘Salmaan Khan’ name “GARV”in which she had only songs. The Giant International Award was awarded to Shilpa Shetty for fabulous performance in the film ‘Phir Milenge’. She had also received Indo-Pak's Young Achiever award. Shilpa was nominated in the category of 'Best Actress' at every award ceremony, including Filmfare, IIFA, and Screen Awards and some more … But in a film industry where the 'popular' people rules, Shilpa was ignored by every single award ceremonies. In the year 2005,She was awarded from AAHOA for her role in Phir Milenge. Shilpa appeared in the movie of director Deepak Tijori's ‘Khamosh’ where she played a role of a call girl. In the year 2005 the film “DUS” was a popular success for Shilpa. She was also a part of ‘Mani Ratnam’s stage show, ‘Netru, Indru and Naalai. She appeared with her sister in the film, “FAREB”. Shilpa
has been nominated three times for "Best Actress" at the Filmfare
awards. Recently Shilpa's film Auto
Shankar opposite Upendra released and now confirmed to be doing great at the
box office. Currently, in Mumbai, Shilpa is an AIDS activits and she's also
representing for PETA India against animal cruelty. She has also appeared in the ‘PETA’ India campaign
